As a private piano teacher, I witness initially hand the difficulties students have in learning how to irritate the ivory. I lecture students on a one lesson per week schedule and this makes it hard for me to aid them with their everyday practices. I can’t demonstrate techniques as well over the phone or via email as I can in self and I’m not available every second of every day. I also have many prospective students who come to me but can’t afford the cost of private lessons or just don’t have an hour once a week to set aside though they still are attracted in learning how to play piano. To address these obstacles, I’ve searched far and wide for a excellent product that would be relevant to my wide age range of piano students as well as complete enough to suggest as a stand-alone piano learning curriculum. I chose to share below what I found to work well for me and my students.

I’ve suggested my students buy a product called PianoForAll with fantastic consequences. I can accurately say that at least 80% of my students who have bought the curriculum saw an accelerated growth in their abilities nearly as soon as they started using it. This handy tool can lecture fresh and entertaining piano skills to complete beginners all the way up to seasoned piano bar veterans – I’m still learning with it and I like to reckon I play pretty well. Some of the aspects of the program that I really appreciate include:

Accessibility. PianoForAll is unadorned and intuitive. No complicated software to navigate, just simple, well laid out lessons and songs.

Entertainment Value. Songs of many styles, time periods, and skill levels are all found in abundance. Not every student can learn from just Bach or Beethoven; sometimes genres such as blues, ragtime, pop, ballads, and rock and roll are more effective in instructing a student with proper technique.

Price. An incredibly reasonably priced price for what really is a product designed to place me out of business.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to expand their piano skills. A fun and reasonably priced solution to piano instruction.

Another asset to aspiring piano virtuosos is Rocket Piano. These downloadable piano lessons have been fantastic in assisting me in preparing for a student’s weekly lesson as well as highly recommendable for their fun, well loved, simple arrangements of songs that my students like. Taught by qualified pianist Ruth Searle, Rocket piano is an innovative way to lecture piano in a form that students will like.

How do you type on the computer keyboard? Are you a ten finger or a one finger typist? Believe it or not playing the piano is very similar to upset typing. Each finger has a specific task to perform.

On the QWERTY keyboard, there are 4 main rows of keys and your fingers sit on the middle row of calligraphy. When you play the piano there are 2 rows of keys – white and black.

When you place your fingers on the piano make sure that they are naturally bent. Your 3 middle fingers are the highest so place them just inside the “boundary line” – where the black keys start. Each finger can then go across to the black keys when necessary. This may feel a small weird to start with. Go from one key to another with as least effort as possible. Keep your wrists relaxed and your fingers soft and bent.

Your thumb acts as a balance for the whole hand. It rests lightly on the white keys. Avoid using it to play the black keys. Our wonderful opposable thumb is used to open and close the hand. It is also used as a pivot.

To practice the movement, place your right hand on any 5 adjacent white piano keys. Go your index finger from the white key to the very next black key – by moving across. Try not to pull the hand backwards or forwards. The movement should feel relaxed and simple.

Play each finger in turn on the 5 white keys. Then allow one finger to play a black key instead. As you gain in confidence you will gradually build up your skill. Soon you will be playing the piano at 100 words per minute!

Are you learning to play the piano like me? The most challenging part for any beginner is conquering the piano chords and scales. Whenever multiple notes are being played together, this is called a piano chord. These chords are then played in an order to help make a melody, and from this melody comes gorgeous music. So don’t be intimidated by the chords, we need them!

As you advance your playing skills, you will master various types of piano chords. Therefore, the more you know about them, the more variety you can delight in while playing. To go a step further, if you wrote your own music, you will not only need to be able to identify the individual tunes, but have a excellent thought of how to bring them together.

There are many advanced courses you can take online to further your understanding and proficiency playing piano chords. Learning new piano chords and scales is something you can discuss with your private instructor if you are fortunate enough to have one. Either way, this mastery of piano chords is what distinguishes many budding pianist over their peers.

There is a level playing field learning piano chords and scales. Every piano only has 88 keys. so it just comes down to practice. For example, how long does it take you to reckon of what keys to press when sending an email, or posting on your blog? Not only that, but you can press the right key to make upper case and lower case as well.

In the same way, you will start to realize which keys when pressed in concert produce a certain chord. While you are learning piano, you will cover some basic chords and start to recognize their unique sound when you hear it. As you continue, you will start to identify individual chords immediately by ear.

Now, more than ever there are many ways to help you to learn the chords. In addition to a private instructor, there are many online courses that offer ebooks, tutorials, videos (which I find most helpful), and interactive online exercises. The main thought is to get really excellent recognizing the unique sound of each chord. The possession of this skill will help you grow as a pianist quicker than any other skill.

To be converted into a pianist, one must demonstrate proficiency in playing all of the piano chords and scales. There is no small cut. But it gets simpler and simpler with practice. It may require patience, but there is no substitute for the ability to command the piano chords.
